BC Standard Journals

Introduction

A standard journal entry is something that you may use on a regular basis but not necessarily something that you want to recur with the same details every month. An example could be items you buy often or a bill you pay regularly. You can save these entries as a standard journal and then pull them as needed. This document shows you how to create and then apply a standard journal.

Create a Standard Journal

Search for General Journals and select the appropriate option from the list.

NOTE: You may need a different journal option, but for our example, we will be working out of the general journal.

  1. Select the journal batch you want to make an entry for. We’re using cash for our example.

  2. You’ll now see a list of all your existing journal entries related to that batch that have not been posted.

  3. Select the lines that you want to save as a standard journal.

  4. Select Process > Save as Standard Journal in the ribbon.

  5. A window will appear with options for the Standard Journal. Select a Code and enter a Description. If the amount is always the same, then toggle the button for Save Amount.

  6. Select OK.
