Master data is the core of your system. This is the information that you use to run your business. It answers the important questions of who, what, and where.

• Who – Who are you getting products from? Who are you selling them to? Who’s running your business?

• What – What are you buying and selling? What are you building? What do you need to build those things?

• Where – What kind of facilities are included in your business? Do you have storage rooms where your products are stored? Do you have specific areas of your grow facility where you move plants when they’re ready to flower?
  
  

The information that is shared across an organization usually includes:

• Customers

• Vendors

• Employees

• Items

• Locations

• Banking information

• Etc.

Master data needs to be set up before you’re able to process information through the system. This is one of the tasks that the 365 Cannabis consulting team will help you accomplish with your initial setup, but your power users (system administrators and some department managers) should also become familiar with the process so that they can add new information as your business expands.
