Excel Tracking Line Toolkit for Plant Assignments
In this article
Introduction
The Excel Tracking Line Toolkit has been enhanced to support the assignment of plant batches, plant tags, and plant packages for METRC compliance. This update is designed to help large-scale operators efficiently manage and assign METRC tags within Business Central On Prem (BC25).
Prerequisites
METRC integration is enabled.
Job activities are properly configured.
Excel Tracking Line Toolkit is available in your role center.
Key Features
New Actions: Assign METRC Plant Batches, Plant Tags, and Plant Packages directly from the toolkit.
Flexible Filtering: The toolkit no longer hard-filters for only active tracking IDs; you can now use the Active field as a report filter.
Field Mapping: Exported and imported files now include “Tracking ID”, “Job No.”, “METRC Package Label”, “Source ID”, and additional METRC fields as needed.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Setup
Navigate to the Excel Tracking Line Toolkit.
Configure four records as needed.
Two new settings are available:
Update Result Line: Creates Job Tracking Lines for result lines.
Update Output Line: Creates Job Tracking Lines for output lines.
Go to Related > Setup and populate the setup page.
The export now includes both active and inactive tracking IDs, controlled by the “Active” filter.
Note: The system used to hard filter the export of tracking IDs to only include active tracking IDs. That hard filter has been removed to allow this functionality to be used from the first work order of a job. Hence, we are including the “Active” field as a report filter.
2. Job Creation
Create and release a job with all required activities.
3. Export Source Packages
In the Excel Tracking Lines Toolkit, select the first activity. This should correspond to the first activity of a job.
Select Related > Export Tracking Lines to Excel.
Enter the Job No. and select Related > Excel Tracking Export Toolkit.
The export file will include the relevant fields; some may be blank depending on job setup.
4. Import Source Packages
Fill in the METRC Package Label in the Excel file.
Use Import Tracking Lines from Excel in the toolkit.
Select your updated file.
5. Verify Work Order
Open the job and check the work order for the STICKING activity.
Confirm that the imported Job Tracking Lines include the METRC Package Label.
6. Repeat for Plant Batches and Plant Tags
Set the Active filter to “true” for these exports.
For Plant Batches:
Export, then fill in the METRC Plant Batch Name.
For Plant Tags:
Export, then fill in the METRC Plant Label.
Import the updated files and verify that work orders and tracking IDs are correctly populated.
7. Repeat for Harvest Line
Ensure the harvest activity includes both output and result lines.
Export, update, and import as above.
Confirm that tracking IDs are imported to both result and output lines.
Best Practices
Always validate your Excel files before importing to avoid errors.
Use the “Active” filter to control which tracking IDs are included in exports.
Verify work orders and tracking IDs after each import to ensure data integrity.
