Introduction to Panels, Tiles, and Links

Panels and Tiles allow users to access their most used pages, reports, etc. from their Role Center.

An administrator can create Panels (which are the containers for Tiles and Links) and assign them to their users, or end users can select their panels to customize their Role Center.

Tiles can be used to open another Panel or page straight from the Role Centre. Tiles can present a value to the user, such as the number of Open Sales Orders, so the user knows how many there are before opening the page.

Filters can be defined by a user and can be used to filter records based on what the user wants to see, for example, the number of customers that have a balance over $1,000. Tiles can even be set up so they dynamically change color based on a value, for example, if there are more than 10 Customers with a balance over $1,000, change to red.

Links can be created and added to a Panel and are used to quickly access and run an object. The only difference between a link and a tile is that links don’t have room to display a value on them.

Tiles and Links can be created against any record or to open any page that a user has access to in the system.

Examples

  • Open Sales Orders.

  • Customers with a Balance.

  • Open Incidents.

Limitations

If there are too many tiles being displayed at once or if the query is not efficient, this can influence performance.
